“Every object, every shape, every style must have a meaning, and it is this meaning that influences us every day.” - Philippe Starck
Philippe Starck was born in 1949 and showed his first interest for living space as a student in Paris where he designed an inflatable house in 1969. Years later, after experiencing was success was like, the general public discovered Starck when President François Mitterrand chose his project to decorate the private residences at the Elysée Palace. In the following years his success became global and with Restaurants, Hotels and countless designs the days for another huge success had arrived.
His designs focus more on functionality than on the object itself aiming to provide the best possible service using a minimum of material. So Philippe Starck developed plastic furniture. Undoubtedly one of the most iconic ones is the Louis Ghost chair (Kartell, 2002).

So I went to a Kartell store where they told me that this chair has been sold over 2.5 million times worldwide. Just imagine that many chairs. Unbelievable.
But of course, Louis is not only available in clean white. Here are the other colours:
Now that I have him in my life I'm trying to find the perfect spot for him. I already have some ideas that I will share with you soon. So stay tuned for more interior inspiration.
