RECIPE / blooming bread

The other day I saw a picture of a delicious bread filled with cheese, meat and onions. It looked so incredible that I instantly wanted to make one myself. I found out the name of this gorgeous meal was 'blooming bread'. I guess because it opens up a little after the stuffing and baking. So here we go: A little and very easy recipe you can adapt and stuff with whatever you want.

Of course the most important ingredients is the bread. I would recommend a soft darker bread. If you can get one take a whole bread because it's easier to cut. Then start cutting it but not until the bottom so it stays in one piece. 

Cut from one side and then from the other one to achieve a pattern like this:

Mix all the ingredients you want in your bread together in a bowl and add salt and pepper if you like.

Start filling the bread in each gap and try to stuff the filling in as deep as possible so you have the ingredients in the full bread when cutting it later.

After the filling it should look a little like this and you already see why it's called 'blooming' bread.

Leave it in the oven for about 15 minutes at 150°C. Depending on whether you like the cheese darker or not leave it in for a little longer.

During the bread is in the oven mix the sour cream with the chives and add salt and pepper (as much as you like). Or create your own dip.

Voilà, this is what the bread looks like when it's finished. Add a salad and you have a great and easy meal. 

Another idea for a party: Buy a huge bread and fill it, prepare different dips and salads so everyone gets what they want.
